RMOC member and certified Ironwoman Maiya Anderson recently competed at the Ironman Triathlon World Championships in Kona-Kailua, Hawaii.
The race, which took place on October 21, 2006, consisted of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike leg, and 26.2-mile run.
Maiya finished the grueling event in 11 hours and 17 minutes, placing 938th out of 1800 competitors. She completed the 2.4-mile swim in 1:02:12 -- which is very fast -- placing her 219th out of all competitors. The 112-mile road bike took her 5:41:31, at which point she was 745th overall. Lastly, she ran a 4:25:48 marathon, 26.2 miles. An amazing feat, to say the least!!!
